Background and purpose: Obesity is an independent risk factor for diabetes, but only 14-20% of obese individuals develop diabetes, which leads the question of why all obese patients do not develop T2DM.Recent studies suggest that chronic inflammation may be the link between obesity and diabetes. In this study, we investigated whether chronic inflammation exacerbated glucose metabolism disorder by impairing pancreatic β cell function and disrupting hepatic glucose metabolism in high fat diet (HFD)-fed C57BL/6J mice and explored the underlying mechanisms.
