Notch receptor-mediated signaling is an evolutionarily conserved pathway that controls cell fates in diverse developmental processes.Its mis-regulation has been implicated in a number of developmental disorders and cancers.Currently, only a limited number of target genes of Notch signaling have been identified, so it is unclear how such a highly conserved signaling pathway mediates such biological diversity.To investigate the genetic mechanisms underlying Notch signaling-regulated responses, we conducted a genome-wide in silico identification and comparative analyses for novel putative target genes of CSL, a key transcription factor that controls downstream events in the Notch pathway.Gene expression profiling analyses were performed to further identify pathway-specific target genes.
