Oceanic suspended particles in sea surface layer consist of a variety of components, some of which have external sources, and some of which are produced internally. These particles play important roles regulating the chemical composition of seawater through interaction with dissolved phase. Therefore, physical and chemical properties of these particles reflect the characteristics of water mass and primary productivity. To consider the physical and/or chemical variation and origin of these particles,it is necessary to analyze not only bulk elemental composition of particles but also size and elemental composition of individual particles. In this study,we attempt to elucidate origins of suspended particles in the surface layer of the central North Pacific.
