Uncaria pteropoda belongs to Rubiaceae family.Four compounds, namely Uncarine E (isopteropodine)(1), Uncarine C (pteropodine) (2), Uncarine F (3) and 3-hydroxy-l l-oxo-urs-12-ene-28-oic acid (4)have been isolated from the methanol extract of the leaves and twigs of Uncaria pteropoda, using separation techniques of radial and preparative thin layer chromatography.The structures of these compounds were elucidated by spectroscopic methods, including UV, IR, 1H NMR, GCMS and 2-D NMR spectral and by comparison with those previously reported data.The presence of the hydroxyursolic acid-type triterpene 4 was new to the genus Uncaria.
