Helium nanodroplets are very cold helium clusters typically composed of 103-10s helium atoms.Foreign species, when captured by helium nanodroplets, can be cooled rapidly to the ambient temperature of liquid helium (0.38 K for 4He), and will aggregate if more than one dopant are added.Helium nanodroplets allow growing not only small atomic and molecular clusters, but also much larger objects such as nanoparticles, in particular, core-shell species by the sequential addition of materials to helium nanodroplets.
