Graphene oxide nanoparticels(GONPS)has attracted an increasing amount of interest because of its potential medical applications; however, the mechanism for its long-term adverse effects is still largely unclear. Here, this toxicity of GO was tested on the Drosophila melanogaster model system by exposing Drosophila to particle concentrations ranging from 10ug/ml to 1000 ug/ml of GO.Food supplementation with GONPS caused a developmental delay in flies and reduced adult eclosion, these effects appear to result from oxidative stress caused by GO.
