A simply and sensitively electroanalytical method for determination of shikonin,a widely used anti-tumoral agent[1],using β-cyclodextrin-functionalized multiwalled carbon nanotubes(MWCNTs/β-CD) electrode was presented.β-CDs are watersoluble and environmentally friendly and can improve the dispersibility of MWCNTs.MWCNTs/β-CD composite combines the advantages of MWCNTs(large surface area and high conductivity) and β-CD(high supramolecular recognition capability) and displays enhanced electrocatalytic activity toward shikonin oxidation[2].Under optimized conditions.the response current exhibits a linear range from 5.0 nM to 10.0 μM with a detection limit of 1.0 nM.Moreover,the proposed method was successfully applied to determine shikonin in urine samples.
