Alzheimers disease (AD) is an age-related neurological disease. The principal pathological feature of the disease is the extracellular deposition of fibrillar beta-amyloid (Aβ)protein and its compaction into senile plaques (SPs).These focal deposits or SPs is the focus of a complex inflammatory cellular reaction involving the activation of both microglia and astrocytes adjacent to the amyloid plaque.
