Rudders,as significant components of aircrafts,are demanded to change their stances in service with a high response speed to fulfill the request of rising performances.However,its own moment of inertia is one of the major factors posing challenges for the improvement of its response speed.This work presents thus a structural topology optimization design of rudders,where the moment of inertia is considered as the design constraint and the compliance of rudder is defined conventionally as design objective.
