Objectives: Toll/interleukin 1 receptor domain containing protein encoded by E.coli (TcpC) was found to be a virulence factor that promotes bacterial survival and is closely related to the pathogenesis of urinary tract infection. It was demonstrated that TcpC can inhibit bactericidal activity of macrophages by blocking toll-like receptor 4 (TLR-4) signaling pathway and plays a crucial role in the pathogenesis of pyelonephritis. The aim of the present study is to examine the regulatory effects of TcpC on the phenotypical and functional maturation of dendritic cells (DC).
