  Objective:Cleft lip and palate is one of the most common birth defects and oral maxillofacial deformity caused by a complex etiological mechanism determined by genetic and environmental factors.It has been found that many environmental factors and genetic factors contribute to cleft lip and palate by epidemiological research,for example,smoking,drinking or virus infection during pregnancy.But environmental factors caused cleft lip/palate are always various according to geographical location,racial and era,this has been confirmed by study of many states.A case-control study was undertaken to discuss epidemiological features among population in Tianjin at the present stage and relative environmental factors.In order to improve the health level of women of childbearing age,reduce the incidence of nonsyndromic cleft lip and palate.
