Storm surge disaster have been responsible for a hug number of deaths, and sta tistical results show that more than 2.6 million people may have drowned because of storm surge events during the past 200 years.According to the official estimate, the most de structive storm surge disaster forced by cyclone Nargis in the Indian Ocean caused the death of exceeding 138 000, and economic damage of over $10 billion.People and exposure in the prone inundated coastal area are facing great threat because of storm surge disaster.Storm surge is also one of the most serious marine disasters in China, causing great eco nomic losses and casualties to the coastal area.
