Effective application of organic fertilizers for sustainable agriculture will be useful to reduce the use of chemical fertilizers in vegetable cultivation,resulting in decreased nitrate accumulation in plants.High concentration levels of nitrate in leafy vegetables such as lettuce and spinach are undesirable because they have a negative effect on human health.Therefore,methods are needed to reduce nitrate levels of leafy vegetables as long as a profitable yield and nutritional quality of leafy vegetables are ensured.
