The application of restraint system modular components can shorten the project development cycle and reduce the cost of project development. With the modularity of the seat, seat belt, DAB and other components of the application, PAB(passenger air- bag)modular is imperative. The key to achieve PAB modular is to attain airbag shape modular. In this paper, the way of PAB airbag shape design is explored. To meet the front passenger safety performance, a modular PAB airbag shape is designed in consideration of manufacturing feasibility and cost control. Simulation and experimental results show that the modular PAB airbag shape can meet most of our models of safety performance goals, thus can be used as a modular product to promote.
