Introduction Natural killer (NK) cells are an important part of the organisms innate immune system. They can destroy virally infected and malignant cells without prior sensitization. These cells recognize abnormal or damaged cells through their activating receptors, such as NKG2D,NKp30,NKp46,DNAM1.NK cells can also be inhibited thru the recognition of inhibitory receptors NKG2A,CD158a/h (KIR2DL1/S1),CD158b2 (KIR2DL3),CD158e1 (KIR3DL1) and others.
