  MiniShogi,which is developed by Shigenobu Kusumoto in 1970,is a modern variant of Shogi.Shogi,also known as the Japanese chess,was once the most popular strategy board game in Japan since the 13th century.For traditional culture such as Shogi,there is enormous knowledge accumulated.In the case of Shogi,this knowledge includes logistic,strategy,and playing philosophy.And this knowledge was stored in the format of Kifu,which is basically a text-based record of the game.Unfortunately,it is difficult for todays adolescent to extract and understand this knowledge by directly reading Kifu.To increase the willingness of adolescent to play MiniShogi,we propose a new mobile edutainment system of MiniShogi in this paper.By animating Kifu,cartoonizing the interface,and utilizing the high-tech functions of smart phones,our system enables users to learn and play MiniShogi anytime and anywhere with a new playing experience.
