A series of phosphine-cobalt(Ⅱ) dichloride complexes,[1] CoCl2(PRPh2)2 (R =Ph, Cy, n-Pr, Et, Me, H), has been used for the highly active and stereospecific polymerization of 1,3-butadiene to produce PBDs with high cis-1,4 content on treatment with ethylaluminum sesquichloride (EASC).
