Numerical simulations using the direct simulation Monte Carlo(DSMC) code of Bird are made for hypersonic nonequilibrium flow about a tick-shaped model configuration.Flow about this test model produces a complex flow where the nonequilibrium and rarefied aspects of the flow are initially enhanced as the flow passes over an expansion surface.Then the flow encounters a compression surface that can induce flow separation.
