Introduction The obstructive sleep apnea syndrome (OSAS) are associated with obesity in adults.Obesity can contribute to OSAS in a number of ways, including mechanical compression of the upper airway by extrinsic fat deposited in the neck or intrinsic fat infiltrating into the upper airway structures, fat deposition in the abdomen leading to thoracic restriction and changes in upper airway length,and central hypoventilation.
