  The purpose of this study is to improve evaluation feedback to ESL students enrolled in an English presentation class.Class surveys as well as observations by the teacher revealed that students wanted more evaluation feedback but large classes and limited class time made this very difficult.To provide more time and varied feedback,it was decided to flip some of the class content online and to introduce systematic videotaping of the presentations.Students would then be able to review materials outside of class at their own pace and,thereby,freeing up class time.Videotaping and uploading presentations to an online site makes evaluations by the teacher,peers and self-evaluation possible.In addition,the students would set personal goals in a self-assessment journal.These techniques are in line with earlier research,which stresses the importance of teachers assisting students to take charge of their own learning and to participate in some part of their own assessment.(Nicole and MacFarlene-Dick,'06)Results of a public speaking self-assessment survey given at the start and end of the term will be examined.Furthermore,students will be interviewed regarding their perceptions of the evaluation process and their assessment of their progress.The results of the research will be used to make improvements in the evaluation procedures in the class.
