The electrolytic recovery of copper from an aqueous acidic sulfate solution is an attractive method of producing copper.Copper is also electrolytically recovered from effluents of many industrial units involving metal plating and finishing.However the high power consumption associated with this process has been the subject of many investigations.The cell voltage in a conventional copper-electrowinning/electro-deposition process is a sum of the thermodynamic equilibrium potentials of the electrode reactions, the over-potential of oxygen and metal deposition and the ohmic potential drop.
