In recent years,social media has come to be essential communication tools in collaborative works.One of the authors conducted interview survey for 25 university students in Korea,Malaysia and Japan.The result of the interview showed Korean and Japanese students tended to use chat application like LINE or KakaoTalk in collaborative works.On the other hand,Malaysian students prefered to using Facebook in their collaboration.These differences are supposed to be caused by differences of terminal used in each country and ICT environment.In this research,the authors analyze how social media tools are actually used in online collaborative works and pursue the effective ways to use them.To achieve this aim,the authors focus on an international collaborative project which is held in University annually.During online collaborative works in the project,the authors intervene and suggest preferred ways to communicate by using social media,and collect data exchanged during online collaborative works.By analyzing collected data,the actual state of online communication would be revealed.Finally,the authors discuss key elements to work together on online effectively.
