Chlamydomonas is a kind of unicellular eukaryotic green algae, which is used as a model organism to study cilia/flagella.Chlamydomonas has two 12μm microtubule-based flagella. The two flagella grow in the front of the cell and finger out to the cell interior.Defects in cilia/flagella will lead to a series of disease.By using insertional mutagenesis method, we can get Chlamydomonas flagella assembly and disassembly defect mutants.Further study will show theoretical guidance on treating disease caused by flagellum/cilia defects.
