Huntingtons disease (HD) is an autosomal dominant neurodegenerative disorder that has been used as an important model of genetically determined neurodegenerative diseases and proteinopathies.HD is mainly caused by cytotoxicity of the mutant huntingtin protein (Htt) with the expanded polyQ stretch. While Htt is ubiquitously expressed,HD is characterized by selective neurodegeneration of the corpus striatum.
