Abstract-Nature is the greatest laboratory in the world, providing various examples of biological materials with complicated, optimized, and efficient hierarchical morphologies and multiple scales ranging from nano to macro. The material synthesized from biotemplates with hierarchical nanostructures will achieve high porosity and high surface area, which could effectively increase the reaction surface and improve the structure dependent properties such as energy storage, catalysis, photonics and gas sensing.
