We are faced to the phenomenon of abandon traditional culture and seek for westernization by the techniques and forms in contemporary Chinese urban parks.There are emerging urban parks combining with Chinese and western gardens styles in various cities of China.Understanding of the use of roads and the different paths forms affect the behavior of visitors,is an important aspect of the following to explore combining with Chinese and western gardens styles rationality or not,but the study is still missing.Bases on the above issues and introduces environmental behavior theory,the paper selects the research objects of Western roads with characteristics of the mesa Parks and Chinese paths of Peony Area,Chinese Rose Area and Cherry Area in Dalian Labor Park.The paper analyzes identity,activity type,group characteristics of the visitors and path selection by questionnaires and observation,which will know the actual utilization of roads and different effects for visitors in both roads forms.Discussing that the Chinese gardens should learn and absorb the advantages of western gardens design,create a human-center development mode in modern urban parks and guide Chinese gardens design practice.
