Background: Immunethrombocytopaenia (ITP) is characterized by platelet destruction and megakaryocyte dysfunctionresulting from autoantibodies induced by the polarization of Th1and deficient regulatory T cells.Mesenchymalstem cells (MSCs) display not only stem cell multipotency but also robust immunosuppressiveproperties.However, MSCs from ITP patients do not exhibit conventionalproliferative abilities and thus exhibit defects in immunoregulation, suggestingthat MSC impairment might be a mechanism involvedin ITP.
