In the last three decades, the deaths from non-communicable diseases in Indonesia has increased significantly taking over the cause of deaths from communicable diseases.Cancers contribute 5.7% of the total deaths.The prevalence rate of cancer is estimated at about 0.4% of the total population.Recent study indicated that the burden of cancer treatment to households has been significantly catastrophic to household economies.It is estimated that there are 100 new cases per one million people annually.It is believed that underreported cases are huge.Starting 2014, Indonesia is expanding health insurance to all population that will be expected to increase case findings.
