OBJECTIVE To elucidate the role and neural circuits of glutamatergic parabrachial nucleus (PB) neurons in the regulation of wakefulness.METHODS A chemogenetic approach was employed to clarify the electroencephalographic outcome of activating PB neurons, which was targeted by adeno-associated viral vectors (AAV) carrying hM3Dq.

Objective: The goal of this study was to evaluate genioglossus (GG) activation in the Chinese population at early sleep onset, and clarify the relationship of GG activation and the apnea severity in p
Sexual arousal ensures the necessary waking state allowing the anticipation and performance of sexual activities and so is a prerequisite for reproduction. Its importance is uncontestable, but the mech
The high prevalence of sleep disturbance has been found in patients with striatum-related neurodegenerative disorders.Striatum lesions in animals exhibited a 15% reduction in wakefulness.
Introduction: The ventral tegmental area (VTA) is crucial for brain functions, such as voluntary movement, cognition, emotion, reward, and motivation. However, the role of VTA in sleep-wake regulation
