One major consequence of early adversity is a markedly increased risk for substance use, abuse, and dependence.Long-term psychological stress during adolescence may influence reward related behavior in adult.Male Wistar rats were given either handle or stressor (elevated platform or/and TMT) at their ages of postnatal 28-30(PN28-30), PN34, PN36, PN40 and PN42 in adolescence.Reward related behavior like novel object seeking, morphine-induced behavioral sensitization (5mg/kg morphine) and conditioned place preference (5mg/kg morphine) were assessed in adulthood.Stressed rats had significant lower weight in PN34、 PN42 compared with handled unstressed rats.Experience of adolescent psychological stress did not affect natural reward related novel object approaching behavior but increased morphine-induced behavioral sensitization and CPP when they reached adulthood. The results indicate that chronic psychological stress in adolescence has different long-term impact on natural reward and drug reward related behavior.
