Osmotic distillation (OD) was examined for concentrating tea polyphenols using the hydrophobic polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) hollow fiber membranes [1-3].The effects of pore size of PTFE hollow fiber membrane and operating conditions such as feed temperature,flow rate of feed solution and concentration of osmotic agent on the OD flux were investigated [4].The results showed that the OD flux increased with the increase of pore size of PTFE hollow fiber membrane,feed temperature and concentration of osmotic agent.The flow rate of feed solution has no significant effect on the OD flux.A OD flux of 1.49 kg/h*m2 was attained for the PTFE hollow fiber membrane with mean pore size of 0.22 ?m when feed temperature,feed concentration,flow rate of feed solution,concentration and flow rate of osmotic agent were 45?C,1%,15L/h,45% and 35L/h,respectively.Under the same experimental conditions the obtained OD flux for PTFE hollow fiber membrane with mean pore size of 0.45 ?m was 2.28 kg/h*m2.
