Soil electric conductivity (EC) is a property of soil that correlates with other soil properties that affect crop productivity including soil organic matter, soil texture, soil moisture content and salinity.In this study, spatio-temporal variability of soil EC at terraced paddy field was analyzed, and EC-based management zone map which can be used as guidance in application of variable-rate fertilizer was developed.Study was conducted at 0.75 ha of paddy field which is cultivated conventionally with paddy-paddy-forage cropping pattern.The soil sample was collected from three planting season, and collected after harvesting, before the next planting.Seventy five soil samples were collected from the field following the grid center sampling method.The soil EC and other macro nutrients of soil were then analyzed at the laboratory.The spatial and temporal variability of soil EC were then analized using ArcView GIS software.In this study, the correlation of EC and others soil properties were also analyzed.The results indicated that EC has a high correlation with total nitrogen of soil.Some spatial and temporal changes of EC variability have been confirmed, and EC-based management zone map have been developed.
