Mastitis is a common and costly disease in dairy cattle, but traditional breeding strategies have no effective achievement on anti-mastitis due to its very low heritability.One SNP (ARS-BFGL-NGS-100480) within bovine trafficking protein particle complex 9 (TRAPPC9) gene was initially identified with significantly association with mastitis resistance in 2093 Chinese Holstein cows in our previous genome-wide association study [1].Findings from mice suggested that the protein of TRAPPC9 gene--NIBP functions as an enhancer of cytokine-mediated NF-κB activation and IKK kinase activity[2].So far the validation and the potential function of bovine TRAPPC9 variants onmastitis resistance have not been reported in dairy cattle.
