The cytoskeleton is an essential cellular component that regulates many cellular processes including morphology, adhesion and migration. The actin-bundling protein, fascin, is a member of the cytoskeletal proteins with restricted expression in specialized normal cells.Induction of fascin expression has been reported in various transformed cells including breast cancer cells. Here, we examined whether fascin expression in breast cancer cells is directly regulating the tumor invasiveness and metastasis. We took in vitro approaches to manipulate fascin expression and study its effect in breast cancer cell lines.
