The sediment samples that were taken from Jiangxin Island, Nanjing Reach of the Yangtze River, China, were used to investigate the effects of sediment compositions on particle surface properties and phosphorus (P) adsorption characteristics, such as Fe/Mn oxides, organic matter (OM) and residues.

The problem of withdrawing sediment at canal diversions is old and still largely unsolved. In the west, it has been recently given the name "Bulle effect", for the name of the Austrian researcher who m
A tidal bore is a series of waves propagating upstream in a river mouth as the tide starts rising. The transient sediment motion beneath a breaking bore was investigated by measuring simultaneously the
Bedload fluctuations over time in steep rivers with wide grain size distributions have been observed, even under constant sediment feeding and water discharge.
Block ramps are natural structures with adequate energy dissipation and partially moderate flow velocities.A special case is given with cross-bar block ramps, where the upstream and downstream level d
Sediment transport is a geophysical phenomenon that sediment particles are driven to move in streamwise and vertical directions by the corresponding forces.
As the main constituents of cohesive sediments in natural waters, clay particles always interact with the waterborne extracellular polymeric substances (EPS) exuded by microorganisms, or exopolymers,
Many studies have been carried out to investigate suction effects on flow behaviour and sediment transport.Published literature has shown that suction has a significant impact on bed erosion and depos
This study deals with the temporal variation of scour around spill through bridge abutments at clear water conditions.
In longitudinal drainage systems, high discharges may occur suddenly due to short, intense rainfalls. These high discharges and related high flow velocities lead to high shear stresses near the bottom
In this paper, new and innovative methods for bedload and suspended sediment transport monitoring and modelling are described.
