For a class of symmetric Levy processes we use the carre du champ to associate with each point on the state space a Hilbert space.These spaces are related to Schocnbergs result characterizing isometric embeddings of metric spaces into Hilbert spaces with the help of characteristic exponents, i.e.continuous negative definite functions.As a side product we obtain a more transparent proof of P.A.Meyers representation of the carre du champ of a Levy process as an infinite sum of squares of certain operators.(This is joint work with Victoria Knopova.)
