Pyridine is a heterocyclic aromatic compound,which is recalcitrant to degrade and teratogenic to human beings.The objective of this study was to investigate the performance of Microbial Fuel Cells using pyridine as fuel and pyridine biodegradation in the MFC.Experiments were initially conducted in a graphite-packed MFC using a pyridine concentration of 500 mg/L combined with different glucose concentrations of 500,250,100,and 0 mg/L,respectively,as the fuel.It took 90 days of acclimation that the MFC could use pyridine as sole fuel.
