Trichoderma, which is present in diverse habitats, has been used as a biocontrol agent for many decades and has maintained stress-related gene expression to adapt to varied environments. Here, we found that the platelet-activat-ing factor acetylhydrolase (PAF-AH) was associated with Trichoderma stress response. The PAF-AH belongs to the phospholipase A2 (PLA2) enzyme superfamily. These enzymes hydrolyze ester bonds at the sn-2 posit-ion of glycerophospholipids to release free fatty acids and lysophospholipids, which often trigger signal transduct-ion pathways in animal or human cells.
