In this work we present a study of an organic photovoltaic blend,consisting of the small molecule N,N’-bis(1-ethylpropyl)-3,4,9,10-perylene tetracarboxy diimide (PDI) as electron acceptor mixed with poly[4,8-bis-substituted-benzo[1,2-b:4,5-b]dithiophene-2,6-diyl-alt-4- substituted-thieno[3,4-b]thiophene-2,6-diyl] (PBDTTT) as electron donor.As a reference system,blends of PDI in poly(styrene) are used.In our studies we address the effects of PDI organization in the photoactive layer and we correlate them to the photovoltaic properties of the PBDTTT:PDI solar cells.
