In this study the spring-back effect was applied in the process of stampable bamboo fiber sheet in order to obtain moderate thickness of the sheet in which fiber intertwinement were previously promoted by needle punching technique.Non-woven cloth processed with alkaline treated bamboo fibers and PP (Polypropylene) fibers were at first prepared by a conventional carding process. The non-woven cloth was modified with needle punching before the press forming. In needle punching work, barbed needles were continuously pushed into and through non-woven cloth. Some fibers were hold by barbs and their arrangement was changed in thickness direction. Then, stampable sheets were heated in an electric oven at 200deg-c.The part of PP was melted and then thickness of the stampable sheet was slightly returned due to the release of compressive residual stress applied to the bamboo fibers.
