目的 A reduced content of alveolar elastic fibers is a key feature of COPD lung.Despite continued elastogenic potential byalveolar fibroblasts in lung affected by COPD,repair of elastic fibers does not take place,postulated to be due to increased levelsof the chondroitin sulphate proteoglycan versican known to inhibit assembly of tropoelastin into fibers.
