Liquid extraction surface analysis mass spectrometry (LESA-MS) is a useful tool for direct surface sampling of intact proteins from biological substrates under ambient conditions.The benefits of LESA over conventional extraction methods include speed of analysis, reduced sample preparation, potential for multiple sampling of the same location and, in the case of tissue sections, the potential to image multiple analytes.
