Biodiesel has been produced by esterification of oleic and low-molecular weight alcohol in the presence of highly Brφnsted acidic liquid [n-DecMe2PSN][PTSA].The new "task specific" ionic liquid [n-DecMe2PSN][PTSA] were characterized by FT-IR, 1H NMR, 13C NMR and TG.H0 (Hammett function)values of the IL was also determined and the results revealed that the acidities and catalytic activities of the IL in esterification were related to its long chain structure. This catalyst showed good catalytic and reusable performance under mild conditions and without any additional organic solvent. The ionic liquid could be reused ten times after removal of methanol and water under vacuum. The yields of oleate could reach between 92.6% and 96.5% after the esterifications were carried out at 60℃ for 3 h.Therefore, an efficient and environmentally friendly catalyst was provided for the synthesis of biodiesel from low cost feed socks such as waste oils and non-edible plant oils.
