A solid-phase microextraction (SPME)-gas chromatography (GC) analytical method for the simultaneous separation and determination of 16 polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) from solid samples has been developed,based on the sorption of target analytes on a special activated carbon fibre and subsequent desorption of analytes directly into GC.The influence of various parameters on PAH extraction efficiency by SPME was thoroughly studied.Determination of PAHs in marine sediments using the proposed approach exhibited acceptable agreement with the standard values.The method is rapid,cleaner,more time efficient and can be performed conveniently.
