We report a rare case of successful pregnancy established by intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI),a type of assisted reproductive technology (ART),using fresh ejaculated sperm from a 33-year-old,infertile,46,XY/46,XX true hermaphrodite.The patient and his wife presented at the Center for Reproductive Medicine,Maternal,and Child Health Hospital,Xiamen City,China for ART initiation.He was previously diagnosed with true hermaphroditism on the basis of karyotype analysis of peripheral blood using the G-staining method.Oocytes were retrieved from the wife using the reformative ultra-long protocol,and ICSI was performed using fresh ejaculated sperm from her husband.A normal pregnancy was achieved after the first ART cycle,confirmed by ultrasound at 45 days and 16 weeks of gestation.To the best of our knowledge,this is the first case of successful clinical pregnancy established through ICSI using fresh ejaculated semen with a low sperm density from an infertile true hermaphrodite.
