  Research Question The prevalence of counterfeit goods poses a significant threat to legal global business(Naim,2005,Randhawa et al.,2015).Many terms are used interchangeably to describe the fact that products are infringing on interllectural property rights(Ang et al.,2001).Counterfeiting is viewed as "genuine fakes" that are 100%direct copies of prestige goods with high brand value in the market and thus usually represent luxury branded products(Nia and Zaichowsky,2000).Shanzhai are products that duplicate or imitate the physical appearance of other products but do not copy the brand name or logo(Yin and Li,2010).While consumer demand for counterfeit products has been well documented in the literature(Eisend and Schuchert-Güler,2006,Staake et al.,2009),Shanzhai has barely received any attention,particularly in the consumer study field(Liu et al.,2015).
