The term "APEC Blue" was created to describe the blue sky and non-hazy days of Beijing during APEC summit 2014,as people usually suffered a lot from the severe haze.Unlike the physical and chemical characteristics being studied quite a lot,the biological features of PM2.5 pollutants have remained to be further researched.We here conducted DNA extraction and 16S rRNA sequencing of eight PM2.5 samples collected during Nov 10-17,2014,during and after Beijing APEC summit.The sampling site was aside the traffic road,at Zhong Guan Cun District,with vehicle exhaust as the main pollution source.Our metagenomic analysis shows that the eight samples covered one and a half periodic cycle in consistent with the record of PM2.5 mass concentration (Fig.1 and its inset).Firmicutes,Proteobacteria and Actinobacteria are the most abundant bacteria in all samples.Sulfur,nitrogen,and methane metabolism may exist in the microbial community,as we found sulfur-reducing bacteria.
