Objective To explore academic performance, lifestyle activities and social relationships as predictors of depressive symptoms among university students. Methods 3,049 Filipino students at a university in Manila,Philippines were included.Hierarchical regression modelling were used to explore predictors of depressive symptoms.Three models with seven predictors were tested: Model 1 with 1 predictor on cumulative grade-point average, Model 2 with4 predictors, on number of hours spent on vigorous physical activity.number of hours spent in using Facebook, number of bottles! glasses of alcoholic beverages taken, and number of religious activities, and Model 3 with 2 predictors.on closeness level with parents and with peers.Resuits Each of the seven predictors was tatis-tically significantly related with depressive symptoms. The best fitting model for depressive symptomatology in the sample of Filipino university students included all the seven predictors.Model 1 (academic performance) accounted for 1.6% of the variance in depressive symptoms, Model 2 (lifestyle activities) for 6.0%.and Model 3 (social relationships) for 10.0%.Conclusion Academic performance, lifestyle activities and social relationships were all statistically significantly associated with depressive symptoms among university students.Data are useful for local efforts seeking to promote further research and social interventions on university students mental health.
