Ants ethnic food commonly consumed in rural communities,now become popular in many countries of Africa,Asia,Oceania and Latin America at elegant restaurants.Insects valued as a cheap source of fresh proteins nowadays are part of the regular diet whenever they are on season.Chicatana ant common name in Mexico,the winged females are collected as they swarm from the nest by thousands on their mating flights during the early part of the rainy season.The portion eaten is the abdomen which when salted and roasted tastes like crackly bacon.
