Government policy encourages prospecting and new mine development, and it promotes opportunities for linkages to the rest of the economy to expand value-added activities, especially through downstream processing of minerals, where this is commercially viable. Distributing geospatial information on the Internet is an enforcing factor for information providers. Internet allows all levels of society to access geospatial information, and provide a media for processing geo-related information with no location restrictions. This paper examines the current Web GIS technology with emphasis on information dissemination. The paper also proposes a web GIS development strategies starting from requirements analysis, and ending in GIS use and maintenance. Disseminating the Mineral Concessions Map of Botswana on the internet improves the chances of many people around the world having the ability to view and interact with it and it also aid decision making process of the prospector. It was developed with ArcGIS version 10.1 software. It provided customized tools to query the database of Mineral Concessions map by PL, commodity, company, etc. It also allows popup windows with information about the tenement. It also has some tools to navigate the map like zoom into layers; as well as pan, measure etc. The result is a versatile product that can be used by either those who have or no access to ArcGIS software. Future improvements to this research could include keeping the database current and converting the map document to a form that could be made available to the general public via the World Wide Web.
